Perfumer H – A Moment of Clarity

A Moment of Clarity

The sky outside was still gray, but the rain had paused for a moment. Those dreary days mirrored Eliott’s mood, who felt apathetic and indifferent to everything. The kitchen’s French door opened onto the vegetable garden, and without realizing he had done so, he found himself wandering barefoot through that little piece of nature that, as a child, had seemed like an endless forest. The scent of sage, a calming and grounding note, permeated the space around him, the same scent that had welcomed him so many years ago when he felt as inert as he did now. Eliott no longer lived with his parents and now only returned home for special occasions when his presence was required. But this time was different, and the smell of the yellow flowers his mother was so proud of was making him understand why. He wanted to reconnect with his emotions and break free from the monotony of his daily routine. He ran two fingers along the damp wood of the fence that bordered the space he was in and realized how easy it was for him to climb over it now. That was no longer an endless forest but his family’s vegetable garden; for years it had seemed a place to explore, but in the end, it had become his refuge. Now his gaze could reach far into the distance. The sky began to brighten and the air was finally fresh.
