Description

To become new does not necessarily mean becoming something else. Sometimes, renewal happens through repetition, through returning to what already exists with a different gaze, or through allowing an identity to evolve without abandoning what made it recognisable in the first place. This is the paradox at the heart of The Greatest #30 – The Evernew Issue, a celebratory issue marking fifteen years of a magazine that has changed continuously while remaining true to its original impulse.

For this chapter, The Greatest looks at renewal not as a clean break, but as a continuous process. Meryll Rogge reflects on fashion as something that follows the same process season after season while demanding a different way of thinking each time; Louis Hofmann associates being evernew with reinvention, reevaluation and curiosity, while continuing to discover new ways of approaching his craft; Orfeo Tagiuri looks back at earlier work and recognises that, even when the result changed, his “North Star” remained consistent. Maurizio Lombardi finds renewal in the possibility of inhabiting different identities without losing sight of his own, while Théodore Pellerin approaches acting through a constant need for inspiration, allowing each new role to become another way of understanding himself and the world around him. Across acting, art, design and sport, other voices extend the same idea in different directions: identities shift, practices expand and what once seemed familiar acquires another meaning when encountered again.
